“At last, anyone can enjoy any cuisine from any restaurant - even three Michelin stars - in the comfort of their own home.”
The market for ready-to-eat home delivery is worth over £3.6 billion and last year grew 10x faster than for eating out. But there is a problem.
Several companies claim to deliver food from top restaurants (e.g. Deliveroo, UberEATS and Supper) but they all fail in the quality of delivery and are ultimately forced into a reduced offering from mid-market restaurants. The reason: great chefs refuse to have their dishes slopped into sub-standard containers, have them bounce around on the back of scooter, getting colder (and soggier) and have them slopped back out when they arrive.
